The best Qur'an available on the Kindle store!
This is the best Qur'an available on the Kindle store. I have wasted quite a bit of money trying to find one that has good navigation and is a good translation. This one passes all of this criteria with flying colors.

OVERVIEW OF THE QUR'AN:

The Qur’an (literally “the recitation” also sometimes transliterated as Quran, Kuran, Koran, Qur’ān, Coran or al-Qur’ān), ) is the fundamental religious text of Islam. Widely regarded as the finest piece of literature in the Arabic language, the Qur’an serves as the verbal divine guidance and moral direction for mankind for hundreds of millions of Muslims around the world.

The text of the Qur’an consists of 114 chapters of varying lengths, each known as a sura. Chapters are classed as Meccan or Medinan, depending on when (before or after Hijra) the verses were revealed. Chapter titles are derived from a name or quality discussed in the text, or from the first letters or words of the sura. Muslims believe that Muhammad, on God's command, gave the chapters their names.

Good interpretation, but a little lacking in certain areas
I don't read Arabic, but wanted to learn about Islam so I was given the print copy by a Muslim friend and then purchased this Kindle edition. Both editions are identical. It contains all of the text in English but be warned that because it's a translation some of the meaning is lost. There are passages where it is clear that Yusuf Ali had a hard time knowing exactly how to phrase things. One complaint I do have is that there is little in the way of additional information, so you will need to find another guide to help you along. If you want a good introduction to the Qu'ran I recommend it highly, but make sure you check other sources also.

Kindle Quran is English translation (dont expect arabic text)
Hello everyone, Please beware that as the title says it is the definitive english edition and just that. I got mislead by the subtext that says complete and unabridged with full color reproductions! excepte for one page of sura al-fatiha and another for few lines of Iqra bisme I could not find any reproductions or other additions (unless I dont know where to look). The translation is that of Yusuf AliI am still looking for something good like the web versions that show the translation and original with option to hide either. (but I guess that's why we need the ipad2)best regards

Winner of the 2012 Independent Publisher Book Awards Silver Medal (IPPY is the world's largest book awards competition, in which 372 medalists were chosen from among 5,206 entries in 2012), this book does not delve into matters of a religious nature but, instead, asks a simple yet profound question: Does the inclusion of scores of accurate modern-day scientific insights in a book over 1,400 years old constitute proof for the existence of a Supreme Being? In The Science of the Quran, Ahmad Hassan presents more than thirty intriguing areas of modern science and argues stunning agreement with the Quran. How can the Quran, a book that's more than 1,400 years old and believed to be the pure and direct revelation from the Supreme Being to the prophet Muhammad, furnish such clear, scientific insight? The conclusion is inescapable: the Supreme Being's existence is real and provable. Scientific topics of discussion include the expansion of the universe, black holes, the big bang, plate tectonics, the last universal common ancestor, evolution, and the invention of modern-day airplanes and cruise ships, among many others. The author also reviews the origin and spirit of the Quran and Muhammad's life and mission and provides a colorful tour through more than twenty-five hundred years of science history and milestones. This book explains material in an engaging and easy-to-understand manner and is written for general readers unfamiliar with the Quran, science, or both. Only a rational mind and an eagerness to learn and explore are required for this journey! Top to learn more

This is a great translation...
I have approximately six different translations at home, including translations from Dawood (biased), Pickthall (a bit antiquated), Asad (great translation, a bit too rationalist) and one from Riyadh (not bad but definitely Wahhabi influenced). So why another one? I picked it up from my local library and was moved. It is the easiest reading Qur'an I've seen yet but it does not take away from the impact of what it says. It really flows nicely and I find it reads so much more quickly than some others. I found no struggles to understand old English terms (Pickthall's) and no fighting with bracketed words (Asad and the Riyadh version) whose purpose is to help explain the deeper elements of the original Arabic. While in a few places, I longed for some of the more grand terms found in some of the other translations, on the whole this is a refreshing new translation in plain English.A few footnotes in some pivotal places keep certain verses in context and help...

easy to read
I am a non Arab speaking, non-Muslim who decided to read the Koran for myself to try to gain an understanding of what Islam is about. The first Koran translation I bought was the one I heard was the most popular by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. I liked the commentary in this one, but the translation itself put me off because it was done in old "King James style" English. I wanted a translation that was in modern English yet considered to be an accurate translation by actual Muslims. I heard about this translation by Haleem, bought it, and found it to be much, much easier to read and comprehend. I have heard it is accurate and faithful to the original Arabic, but I don't speak Arabic myself, so I hope that this is the case. The commentary in this translation is much less than Ali's and more to the point. If you are curious and don't like olde English, and desire minimal but pertinent commentary, this modern translation is the one to get.

A breakthrough translation of the Qur'an
This is one of the best translations of the Qur'an on the market today. Prof. Abdel Haleem has done a remarkable job of presenting the Qur'an in modern English. His translation is easy to read and has just enough footnotes and commentary to explain context without overwhelming the reader with detail. Abdel Haleem has also avoided the mistake of most translators -- "creative interpretation" of the Qur'an in order to conform its meaning to their own religious beliefs or biases. The translation also has very useful introductory sections that help non-Muslims understand how the Qur'an is structured. It's not a linear narrative like the Bible, but intentionally jumps around in time and space, like flashes from the facets of a diamond held up to the light.I believe that this translation will be held as the new standard in Qur'an studies for the 21st century.

Product Description

One of the most influential books in the history of literature, recognized as the greatest literary masterpiece in Arabic, the Qur'an is the supreme authority and living source of all Islamic teaching, the sacred text that sets out the creed, rituals, ethics, and laws of Islam. Yet despite the growing interest in Islamic teachings and culture, there has never been a truly satisfactory English translation of the Qur'an, until now.

This superb new translation of the Qur'an is written in contemporary language that remains faithful to the meaning and spirit of the original, making the text crystal clear while retaining all of this great work's eloquence. The translation is accurate and completely free from the archaisms, incoherence, and alien structures that mar existing translations. Thus, for the first time, English-speaking readers will have a text of the Qur'an which is easy to use and comprehensible. Furthermore, Haleem includes notes that explain geographical, historical, and personal allusions as well as an index in which Qur'anic material is arranged into topics for easy reference. His introduction traces the history of the Qur'an, examines its structure and stylistic features, and considers issues related to militancy, intolerance, and the subjection of women.

Clearly written and filled with helpful information and guidance, this brilliant translation of the Qur'an is the best available introduction to the faith of Moslems around the world.

Best Quran translation yet, finally available for kindle
I have used the hardcopy version of this translation for years and I am glad it is finally available on the kindle. The translation is as the description says, very easy to read and understand, the commentary that runs in brackets with the translation not only clarifies the meanings and removes the misunderstandings that are the plague of other translations but also add tremendously to the reading (and learning) enjoyment of the book. It is wonderful to have the arabic text alongside the translation and helps a lot for anyone who wants to learn the language of quraan. I cant praise this translation enough! Yusuf Ali, Pickthall etc dont even come close to the accessibility and deep knowledge that can be gained from this version. I recommend to anyone seeking a translation of the quraan, over any other translation, in fact i discourage reading any other translation until you have read this one!!!!!!!

I love this translation
This is the best translation I have read, other translations are difficult to understand whereas this one is easy to read and the commentary in brackets helps tremendously in understanding the verses. Having the arabic text as well is a help for me in learning arabic because I can pair the meaning with the arabic words.

Summary:

Quran Made Easy is a modern, easy to understand english translation of the Holy Quran with inline commentary. This is the only english language translation that includes translation, commentary as well as the Arabic in images. The language is simple and easy to understand and unlike other translations leaves no room for ambiguity and misunderstanding. The work is a recent project and does not use "old" english or difficult to understand words.

This book is volume 2 of 10, the series has been divided into 10 parts due to the large file size when including the arabic images. An english only version will also be released soon.

Translators foreword:

In preparing this translation of The Quraan, the dilemma was whether to use very ornate and elegant language which could compromise clear understanding for most people or to use a simple and clear style of language. Because the intention was to make The Quraan clear to every person, the second style was chosen, even though it may at times lack the dignity and lofty tone. It was also chosen because thousands of English-speaking people who are not very proficient in the language found the lofty language of other translations difficult to understand. This translation caters for their needs by providing where necessary synonyms between brackets. It is the language of only the Divine that can combine exceptional eloquence and ease of understanding.

Unlike in previous translations, footnotes are not used in this translation. Rather the explanations which have been given between brackets, serve multiple purposes. Firstly, they save the reader the need to look for the corresponding footnote which often hampers one's train of thought and understanding. Secondly, the explanations enhance the meaning of a verse by adding text which is often hidden. This is especially necessary in a translation of the Quraan because the Arabic text is extremely compact and rich in meaning, and to render the same meaning in another language requires the use of many more words. By using words between brackets, the essential text of The Quraan is not confused with the additional words that are required to promote understanding.

Great in theory --poor in execution
I bought this Kindle-book based on the recommendations that highly praised this book. I personally was disappointed in it.My chief complaint is that the Arabic original has clearly been xeroxed into the text which would be okay if they had not done so in an extremely small typeface - impossible for me to make out the characters. The translation is good, printed in bold type, but the commentary, delineated by (parenthesis)was generally a distraction -- the text itself was clear enough that commentary was seldom needed.Personally, I think that this could have been done better in an interlinear form - the Arabic text (in a much larger typeface) the translation under it, and any necessary commentary beneath that.No translation is perfect. This is a great translatioon but the commentary detracts from it. I would personally opt for the Holy Quran in Today's English even though it lacks the Arabic...

The Qur'an made understandable
Emerick has produced an easily understood translation of the Qur'an that is sure to find favor with all English-speaking readers. While no translation of the Qur'an can replace the original Arabic, this translation comes as close as possible. A superb tafsir (commentary) accompanies the translation in some 1,100 footnotes.

Easy read
This is the easiest read for the translation of the meanings of the Qur'an that I have ever come across. I highly recommend it along with other books by Emerick, like A Complete Idiot's Guide to Understanding Islam. Along with that I would also recommend the iTunes audio lecture titled The Purpose of Life by Jeffery Lang. Enjoy!!

Where Can I buy A Quran

According to another version narrated from Naafi’, ‘Abd-Allaah said: They used to buy food at the top end of the market, and sell it where they bought it.
